I thought some over-the-top gag gifts might lighten the mood and make 40 a little easier for him to swallow.
While I was brainstorming for ideas, I thought of 40 oz beers and how that might be fun. Then some how I came up with the idea of
I designed a little graffiti logo to put on an over-the-top hat that my husband would normally never wear. I tried using an iron-on, but after several failed attempts, I just taped the logo onto the hat. Thank goodness the hat had a very forgiving pattern that didn't show my mess-ups! Every successful rapper has some bling, so I also made a sparkly 40 necklace with some metallic paper and plastic bead necklaces from Hobby Lobby, too.
I think he had a great time wearing his 40 Sense get-up, and his family certainly got a big kick out of it. We all sampled small glasses of the 40 oz Miller High Life to join in the fun. In case you don't know, it's the self-proclaimed "Champagne of Beers", so it was perfect for a 40th birthday celebration.
